A network of change. The Red Argentina de Género, Ciencia y Tecnologí­a (RAGCyT) stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and advocacy. Right here, in this unassuming building, a movement took root, blossoming into a powerful force for gender equality in science and technology. The RAGCyT’s story begins in 1993, emerging from a workshop on Gender, Science, and Technology in Latin America. This workshop, organized by the PUEG of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, ignited a spark that would illuminate the path towards a more inclusive scientific landscape in Argentina. The Red Argentina de Género, Ciencia y Tecnologí­a quickly established itself as a vital platform. It fosters exchange among female scientists and researchers passionate about improving the situation of women in science and technology. The organization’s main objectives are clear: to create a space for dialogue, conduct diagnostics on the status of women in these fields, develop strategies for recognizing their contributions, and strengthen the gender perspective in public policies. The Red Argentina de Género, Ciencia y Tecnologí­a has consistently tracked the careers of female scientists and critically analyzed public policies. The organization has actively participated in national and international conferences. They even contributed to proposing gender equality indicators for the scientific and technological system with CONICET. Their influence extends beyond Argentina’s borders, as part of the Ibero-American Network of Science, Technology, and Gender Indicators, collaborating with six Latin American countries and Spain. Since 2012, the Red Argentina de Género, Ciencia y Tecnologí­a has expanded its outreach through Tierra Violeta. This cultural center houses a feminist library and documentation center, and the Elvira López Research and Training Center (CIFEL), further solidifying their commitment to education and empowerment. The RAGCyT’s journey underscores the importance of raising awareness, promoting equality, and creating opportunities for women in science and technology.
