Nestled in the heart of Raynes Park, London, lies the Prince George’s Playing Fields, home to Raynes Park Vale Football Club. Did you know this club boasts a peculiar pitch with a noticeable slope? It offers a stunning view of the Raynes Park valley, Copse Hill, and Wimbledon Hill. Raynes Park Vale Football Club was founded in 1995. It emerged from the merger of Raynes Park FC and Malden Vale FC. This merger brought together two distinct footballing lineages. Raynes Park FC, established in 1964, carried the torch of the Southern Railway Football Section (1925-1963). This earlier team had a rich history, including a memorable tour to Belgium in 1925. They played against Ostend V.G. Club and Bruge FC. Malden Vale FC, founded in 1967, contributed its own vibrant history to the mix. They had climbed the league ladder, achieving senior status in 1977. They even reached the Isthmian League. Raynes Park Vale FC joined the Combined Counties Football League after its formation. The club’s best league finish was fourth place in the 1997-1998 season. The reserve team has seen success too, winning the Combined Counties Reserve League twice. Raynes Park Vale experienced some administrative changes in the 2013-2014 season. Lee Dobinson transitioned from First Team Manager to Club Chairman. Former AFC Wimbledon player, Gavin Bolger, then took the reins as First Team Manager. More recently, in the 2022-2023 season, Raynes Park Vale celebrated a double victory. The first team won the Combined Counties Premier South League. The U18 team also clinched the Combined Counties League Tony Ford U18 East title. The club has a unique place in football history. It represents a blend of different teams. Their ground offers a distinct viewing experience. The sloping pitch adds an interesting dimension to the game. Raynes Park Vale Football Club stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of local football.
