Located in the village of Dehianga, just a stone’s throw from the bustling city of Kandy, Rawahiya Arabic College stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of learning within the Muslim community of Sri Lanka. The story of Rawahiya Arabic College began on a humble note, on the 25th of May, 1994. Picture a small group of ten students, gathered eagerly after Asar prayers, their thirst for knowledge mirroring the dedication of their two teachers. Initially housed in the Masjidul Hasanath at Godamuduna Mahalla, the college was a seed, planted with hope and watered with unwavering faith. Over time, the seed grew, nurtured by the dreams of a community yearning for a dedicated center of Islamic learning. In 1996, the college took a significant stride forward with the introduction of the Sharia section. This expansion was made possible by the extraordinary generosity of Marhoom Mohamed Quasim, a visionary who understood the profound impact of education. He bequeathed a plot of land to the college, a legacy carried forward by his grandson, Al Haj Wazeerul Hussain. This generous donation paved the way for the construction of a proper building, fulfilling the dreams of many.
