Ranui School caters to students from Year 1 to Year 6. It also offers a unique opportunity for students to delve into the beauty of te reo Māori within Whakatipu Kakano, the school’s bilingual unit. Ranui School is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a thriving learning community, guided by a clear vision. This vision permeates every aspect of school life, from the classroom to the playground. Ranui School is also a proud member of the Waitakere Kāhui Ako, a collaborative learning network. This network connects the school with other educational institutions, fostering shared knowledge and best practices. Ranui School has identified three strategic priorities. These priorities aim to improve outcomes for all learners. They are “Our Ways” focusing on partnership, “Growing” which emphasizes ongoing learning, and “Hauroa” dedicated to total wellbeing. These pillars represent the school’s commitment to a holistic approach to education, where academic growth goes hand in hand with personal and social development. In 2022, Ranui School, in collaboration with the Education Review Office (ERO), embarked on a journey of improvement. Their shared goal was to evaluate the impact of a focus on learner hauora and wellbeing. They wanted to understand how this focus could create a more responsive environment. This environment aimed to boost engagement and outcomes for all learners. Ranui School’s commitment to hauora/wellbeing is evident in their desire to meet the holistic and individual needs of each learner. They want to see every child engaged, progressing, and achieving improved outcomes. Strengthening partnerships with whānau is also a key focus. Ranui School recognizes the importance of working together with families to support their children’s educational journeys. Looking ahead, Ranui School plans to analyze and evaluate its hauora/wellbeing practices. They want to pinpoint the strategies that have the greatest impact on their students. Further professional development for teachers will also be a priority. This development will empower teachers to further strengthen their hauora/wellbeing-based practices. This will allow them to respond effectively to the diverse needs of all students. Engaging whānau and the wider community is also a key goal. Ranui School envisions building a shared culture of wellbeing and belonging. They plan to achieve this through open and effective communication.
