Did you know that Quai Saint-Exupéry once held the only stop sign in all of Paris? This isn’t just any Parisian quai. Quai Saint-Exupéry hugs the Seine. It’s named after the famous aviator and author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. He wrote The Little Prince. A book beloved worldwide. The quai itself is a significant part of Parisian history. Before its current name it was known as Quai du Point-du-Jour. This was part of a larger thoroughfare called “chemin de grande communication no 1”. It was even located in Boulogne-Billancourt. Later it was annexed to Paris.

The Quai Saint-Exupéry stretches for 630 meters. Its width is 18 meters. It begins at the intersection of Boulevard Murat and Quai Louis-Blériot. It ends where Avenue Le-Jour-se-lève meets Quai du Point-du-Jour in Boulogne-Billancourt. Imagine the journey along this waterway. Picture the changing scenery. The bustling life of the city gives way to tranquil reflections on the water.

Along the quai you’ll find interesting buildings. Number 8 houses the Chiquito de Cambo. This is a grand fronton. It’s a place for the exciting sport of Basque pelota. Number 12 is home to the Tennis Niox. This is a tennis club offering courts for players of all levels. This quai is more than just a road. It’s a vibrant tapestry of Parisian life.

But the stop sign story is the most intriguing. It appeared mysteriously. It disappeared just as mysteriously. Between 2012 and 2014 it vanished. No one knows exactly why. Was it stolen? Was it an authorized removal? The mystery remains. You can still see the post where it once stood. Look carefully. You might even spot the ghostly outline of that lone stop sign. That is the charm of Quai Saint-Exupéry. A place where history and mystery intertwine. A place that continues to intrigue and captivate. A true testament to the spirit of Paris.
