Curious about how a village celebrates nearly 700 years? Well, here we are in Albrechtshain. This part of Naunhof has a long story to tell.

Albrechtshain was first documented in 1335. Back then it was called Albrechtisdorf. The name changed to Albrechtshain by 1350. Imagine life here almost seven centuries ago.

In 1382, St. Petri Church was first mentioned. Think about people gathering here for centuries. Around 1500, a moated castle was built. It added to Albrechtshain’s importance. But a fire likely destroyed it around 1525.

The Antonites took ownership in 1512. They controlled the manor of Albrechtshain. This included Kleinsteinberg. By 1687, a mill with two water wheels was mentioned on Parthe river. Water powered life and work here.

Let’s jump to the 1800s. In 1819, a school was built. Education became a priority for Albrechtshain. From 1846 to 1847, St. Petri Church was renovated. It got a simple design with a small tower. In 1878, the tower was removed because it was unstable. A bell house replaced it. Further changes happened in 1896. Architect Th. Quentin and builder Öhmichen added a church tower. This cost 25,000 marks.

By 1901, the local inn had a telephone. This connected Albrechtshain to the world. In 1920, the village got drinking water from Beucha. Street gas came from Naunhof in 1926. Electricity arrived between 1926 and 1928. These upgrades modernized Albrechtshain.

Eicha became part of Albrechtshain in 1948. In 1993, Albrechtshain joined Naunhof. It became a district of the town.

Starting in 1996, St. Petri Church was repaired. The roof and tower were fixed. The outside was also renovated. In 2023, Albrechtshain celebrated its 675th anniversary. There was a service at St. Petri Church. Musicians and a gospel choir performed. A festival followed on the sports field.

Albrechtshain may be small. But it has witnessed centuries of change. From its early days to modern times, it has preserved its unique character. Take a moment to appreciate the history surrounding you. Consider the stories that these fields and buildings could tell.
