Known formally as the Programa Nacional de Desarrollo Rural y Urbano Sostenible, Pronaders was born from the ashes of disaster. Established in the year 2000, it was a key element of the Plan de Reconstrucción del Sector Agrícola (PRSA). This plan itself was part of a larger initiative – the Plan Maestro de Reconstrucción y Transformación Nacional (PMRTN) – designed to lift Honduras after the devastation of Hurricane Mitch.
