Prince of Peace Lutheran Church first opened its doors as a mission church on October 15, 1961. The congregation, initially part of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Naperville, quickly grew. On January 22, 1962, Prince of Peace officially became its own congregation with 66 baptized members, a testament to the burgeoning community’s thirst for spiritual connection. The unique octagonal sanctuary, completed in 1966, with its exposed brick and dark wooden beams, stands as a symbolic embrace, welcoming all who seek solace and fellowship. The church expanded over the years. The East Room was added in 1970, providing a space for community gatherings. Classrooms followed in 1982 and an expanded office in 1989. Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where music fills the air, lifting hearts and inspiring hope. The church boasts a rich musical tradition, with its choir, children’s choir, and talented musicians like Laura Niemiec, the pianist and organist, filling the sanctuary with beautiful melodies. Pastor Craig Felde leads the congregation, sharing inspiring messages and guiding the community on their spiritual journey. He also serves as the pastor of Sojourners Pub Church, bringing his ministry to unconventional settings in Chicago’s western suburbs. Prince of Peace is deeply committed to its community.
