“The highest bridge in France?”. The Pont de la Porte de Verrières, a testament to architectural ingenuity, once held that title. Completed in 2002, this marvel of engineering, gracefully curved and stretching 720 meters, was briefly the highest bridge in France. Constructed using an intricate process of incremental launching due to its impressive height, the Pont de la Porte de Verrières required 6,200 tonnes of steel and 22,000 cubic meters of concrete for its five towering piers. The tallest pier, P3, reaches a staggering 141.36 meters into the sky. This bridge isn’t just a feat of engineering, it’s a symbol of human ambition and innovation.
