“Faith, love, and service” whispers through the walls of Pompei Sisters. Here at Pompei Sisters in New Manila, Quezon City, Philippines, we find ourselves at a unique location. It is a place deeply rooted in faith and dedicated to serving others.

The story of Pompei Sisters begins far away in Italy. Mother Valeria Torelli, Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Rosary of Pompei, felt a calling. She sensed a need to expand their mission. This led her to the Philippines.

In March 1987, Mother Valeria and her collaborator, Sister Maria Colomba, ventured to Manila. They explored the area seeking a suitable place. They envisioned a haven where sisters could minister to those in need. They also hoped to inspire young women to join their congregation.

The Dominican Fathers provided invaluable assistance. They helped locate a house in New Manila, Quezon City. This house would become the first home for the Pompei Sisters in the Philippines. It would be a place of welcome, a center for prayer, and a training ground for future sisters.

On July 7, 1987, two sisters, Mother Colomba Russo and Sr. Maria Teodora La Montagna, arrived. Their task was to renovate the house. They worked hard to make it functional for its intended purpose.

Even before the renovations were complete, young women began to arrive. Prepared by Father Efren, nine generous souls joined the community. They sought to learn from Mary and be guided by the Pompei Sisters.

These young women grew in faith and knowledge. They also learned a new language. The community flourished despite the challenges.

On September 24, 1987, more sisters arrived in Manila. The next day, with the approval of Cardinal J. Sin, the chapel was canonically erected. The divine presence took residence in the house. It became a source of comfort and strength for the sisters.

Cardinal Sin and the Apostolic Nuncio Monsignor Bruno Torpigliani blessed and encouraged this new venture of the Pompei Sisters. Superiors from various congregations welcomed the sisters to their land.

The Pompei Sisters aimed to spread the good news. They sought to promote devotion to the Madonna of the Rosary of Pompei. They also wanted to improve the lives of the local people. They wished to welcome young women who wanted to serve Christ.

Today, the Pompei Sisters continue their work. They serve in various ministries. These include education and spiritual formation. They strive to live out their mission. They offer love and joy to the people of New Manila.

The story of Pompei Sisters in Manila is one of courage and faith. It is a testament to the dedication of these women. They crossed oceans and overcame obstacles to serve God and their neighbors. They remain committed to spreading the Gospel and uplifting lives.

The Pompei Sisters journey in the Philippines embodies hope. It shows unwavering commitment to faith. It is a living example of love in action.
