Might a bustling market once have stood where we’re standing now? Welcome to Paseo La Plaza. This cultural and commercial complex is a true Buenos Aires gem.

Paseo La Plaza stands in the San Nicolás neighborhood. It’s a vibrant hub of activity. This location was once the site of the bustling Mercado Modelo. The market served residents near Corrientes Avenue for much of the 20th century. It was known for its ornate hall and Bachín y Pichín Restaurant.

During Argentina’s difficult 1980s, the market shut down. The prime location attracted investors. The La Plaza Group, a theatre production company, purchased the property. They transformed the market into the open-air center we see today. Some of the market’s original features were preserved, like its colonnade and porticos.

Paseo La Plaza officially opened on September 28. It quickly became a cultural and commercial center. It hosts theater performances, congresses, and conventions. You can also find gastronomic and commercial venues here. The complex is owned and managed by Grupo La Plaza. They also own the Metropolitan Sura theatre.

The complex boasts two main theaters: the Pablo Neruda and Pablo Picasso Salons. They seat 520 and 440 people respectively. There is also a patio amphitheater. The Neruda Salon hosts Alejandro Dolina’s news program.

Paseo La Plaza was designed as an urban oasis. It’s lushly landscaped. It offers a retreat from the city’s density. It attracts over 350000 theater-goers a year. This makes it Argentina’s most important center of its kind.

The center also includes a convention center. It can accommodate up to 1200 visitors. The convention center is divided into the Alfonsina Storni, Pablo Casals, and Julio Cortázar Rooms.

A promenade of retail outlets lines the patios. You can find restaurants and bars here too. Paseo La Plaza attracts around half a million visitors a month.

If you’re looking for a bite to eat, Manduca offers traditional Argentine and international cuisine. For coffee and sweets, try Café + cuadra or Oy Vey. Scannapieco is a typical Buenos Aires ice cream shop. The Cavern Café is a Beatles-themed bar.

For snacks and vermouth, check out Platitos 57 or Sifón Sodería. Pizza lovers should try Mucha pizzería. Batacazo sanguchería is another popular option. International food lovers can visit Asu Mare for ceviche. Koko offers bao. Cervelar is the place for beer. Let it v provides plant-based street food.

You can browse souvenir, handicraft, and local product shops. Enjoy live music that enlivens the spaces. Experience La Plaza Off for alternative shows.

Paseo La Plaza combines culture, entertainment, and gastronomy. It’s a must-visit in Buenos Aires. Its unique architecture and vibrant atmosphere make it special.
