Did you know that Plano East Senior High School is the only senior high school in Plano ISD to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme? Plano East Senior High School, better known as East, opened in 1981 as the second senior high school in Plano. It was designed to look like a college campus, with three academic buildings connected by walkways, a fine arts building, and a gymnasium. This sprawling campus grew to include a student activity center, a science wing, and an extension to the main building. The athletic complex was added in 1983, making sure that female athletes had equal facilities to men. Over 250 courses are offered at Plano East, giving students the opportunity to design a program that suits their unique talents and interests. The school holds the distinction of having the largest graduating class in the United States in 2005 with 1220 graduates. Plano East is known for its academic excellence and innovative programs, including the Health Sciences Academy, started in 2013. All of these programs combined make it a hub of activity and learning. Plano East Senior High School is much more than just a school – it is a hub of learning and activity, and a source of pride for the city of Plano.
