The Planetenlehrpfad: Pluto stretches nearly six kilometers, a scale model of our solar system. It was inaugurated in September 2002, a testament to two years of dedicated work by students and teachers. The Planetenlehrpfad: Pluto begins at the Old Waterworks with a 1.5-meter sphere representing the sun. It ends here, at Pluto, after a journey through our scaled-down solar system. Each station along the Planetenlehrpfad: Pluto features a bronze plaque with a relief of the planet and key information in Braille. Even Earth and its moon, separated by a mere 38 centimeters in this model, share a plaque. The Planetenlehrpfad: Pluto isn’t just a walk; it’s a journey through the vastness of space. Imagine traversing the real solar system at three times the speed of light. That’s the experience this unique path offers. As you stand at the Pluto marker, consider this: the nearest star, Proxima Centauri, would be about the Earth’s circumference away on this scale. The Planetenlehrpfad: Pluto was the brainchild of the Bertolt-Brecht Comprehensive School in Bonn. Students, supported by local businesses and the Marburg Institute for Blind Studies, meticulously crafted this unique experience. The Planetenlehrpfad: Pluto offers a tangible sense of cosmic proportions, a blend of scientific accuracy and imaginative wonder.
