Mexico City, unfortunately, ranks high on the list of polluted cities globally. Over 60% of its residents lack access to green spaces. This mural aims to change that. The magic lies in the paint. Airlite, a special paint that mimics photosynthesis, covers the wall. When light hits the painted surface, a chemical reaction occurs. This reaction reduces harmful pollutants like nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide. Imagine, a single artwork neutralizing the pollution equivalent of nearly 20,000 vehicles annually. The mural’s design draws inspiration from the tree of life, a recurring motif in traditional Mexican clay sculptures. These trees of life have long served as storytellers, narrating tales of creation, life, death, and humanity’s bond with nature.
