The Palais de l’Élysée became the official home of the French President. The Palais des Tuileries burned down during the Paris Commune protests. The Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World Fair. Paris’s Metro dates back to 1900.
Paris suffered during World War I and was occupied in World War II. But Paris survived. Today Paris continues to be a major world city.
