Before us stands Piggotts Farmhouse a Grade II listed building. Its history whispers tales of centuries past. Piggotts Farmhouse wasn’t always a farmhouse. In fact it has a rich and varied history. Originally known as Picot’s Manor it dates back to at least the 12th century. The Abbot of Westminster granted land to Thomas Picot then. Later the name evolved into Piggott’s Manor. Piggotts Farmhouse wasn’t always the grand structure we see today. A mock-Tudor mansion replaced an earlier Georgian building in 1884. This is the building you see now. For a time Piggotts Farmhouse served as a nurses’ training college. From 1957 to 1972 St Bartholomew’s Hospital ran it as a Preliminary Training School. Then came a significant turning point. In 1973 George Harrison donated Piggotts Farmhouse to the Hare Krishna movement. It became Bhaktivedanta Manor a hub for spiritual life. The devotees faced challenges securing its future as a temple. Years of campaigning and legal battles ensued. Finally they won the right to keep the manor open. Today Piggotts Farmhouse welcomes thousands of visitors annually. It hosts festivals celebrates spiritual practices and cultivates a peaceful atmosphere. The legacy of Piggotts Farmhouse endures a remarkable blend of history faith and transformation. It stands as a testament to perseverance and the power of devotion. Piggotts Farmhouse is more than just a building. It is a living story.
