Above the whispering trees and the sprawling city below, you’ll find the Piedra de Habsburgo. The Piedra de Habsburgo is more than just a rocky outcrop. It’s a window to the soul of Bariloche. This magnificent viewpoint rests on the back of Cerro Otto, a mountain known for its breathtaking landscapes. The trail to Piedra de Habsburgo starts near the Cerro Otto’s rotating cafe. It’s an easy 4km hike through a world painted in greens and blues. Imagine walking through a fragrant forest, where the air hums with the secrets of nature. The “Barbas del Diablo”, a unique type of green moss, hangs from the branches. It looks like long, mystical beards, a testament to the pure air of this region. About halfway through, you’ll come across a gate. It marks the entrance to a private property which you are allowed to cross. Keep following the path. After about an hour, the trail will lead you to a clearing. And there it is – the Piedra de Habsburgo. The panoramic view from here is truly captivating. You can see the majestic Cerro Catedral piercing the sky and the serene Lago Gutierrez shimmering under the sun. It’s the perfect spot to capture the memory of this breathtaking vista. The Piedra de Habsburgo is a reminder of the raw beauty and captivating serenity that Bariloche offers. It’s a place where you can connect with nature. And it’s a story you’ll carry in your heart long after you leave.
