The Pfarrkirche Peter und Paul you see before you today isn’t the original structure. The first church, likely dating back to the 8th century, gave way to a newer building around the year 1300. This medieval church, with its tower and apse, served the community for centuries. In 1500, it got a Gothic makeover. But by 1842, it was time for another change. This time, the old church was demolished. A new one, designed by architect Laurenz Vogel in the Neoclassical style, rose in its place. The Pfarrkirche Peter und Paul we see today was consecrated in 1846. Step inside, and you’ll find art that spans the ages. A poignant Pietà from 1470/80 and a Gothic crucifix from around 1520 offer glimpses into the church’s earlier days. Look up and admire the ceiling. That’s a work by Kaspar Kögler, painted in 1863.
