Her name comes from Greek words meaning “weave” and “unravel.” She was the wife of Odysseus and mother to Telemachos. Penelope is known as the epitome of a faithful wife.

But each night, Penelope unraveled her work. This went on until Odysseus returned. He then killed the suitors and reclaimed his throne in Ithaka.
