Is it possible for a village to emerge from a split? Well, let’s talk about Penatih Dangin Puri.
Penatih Dangin Puri has a story rooted in the division of a larger entity. It is not just a place but a testament to administrative evolution.
Once upon a time Penatih Dangin Puri was simply part of Desa Penatih. To understand Penatih Dangin Puri we must go back to before 1982. Desa Penatih encompassed a larger area that includes what is now Kelurahan Penatih.
In 1979 a significant decision was made. The Bupati Kepala Daerah Tingkat II Badung issued a decree. This decree number 167/Pem-15/166/79 concerned the division and formation of new “Desa Persiapan” or preparatory villages within the Kota Administratif Denpasar. This was a key step towards recognizing the distinct needs of the region.
Then in 1982 the Governor Kepala Daerah TK I Bali issued decree number 7/Pem/II.a/2-57/1980. This decree officially sanctioned the splitting of Desa Persiapan into actual desa within the Kota Administratif Denpasar.
Finally also in 1982 the Governor Kepala Daerah TK I Bali enacted decree number 57. This decree firmly established the “Desa Persiapan” as definitive villages within the city of Denpasar. Desa Penatih was split into two entities. These were Desa Persiapan Penatih Dangin Puri and Kelurahan Penatih.
At its inception Penatih Dangin Puri comprised three “Dusun”. These included nine Banjar Adat and one Banjar Suka Duka Palagiri. A Dusun is similar to a hamlet. A Banjar is a traditional community organization. Over time the population grew. To improve public services the original three Dusun were further divided. They expanded into seven Dusun. These seven Dusun were made up of twelve Banjar and one Suka Duka group.
Since its establishment Penatih Dangin Puri has been led by several notable figures. They include I Wayan Turun, Drs I Ketut Dunia, Drs I Made Tama Artana and Drs I Wayan Santa, M.Si.
Penatih Dangin Puri stands as an example of how administrative divisions can shape local governance. From a single village to a distinct entity Penatih Dangin Puri has its own identity within Denpasar Timur.
