Amidst the lush greenery of Penang Municipal Park, discover the ever-changing canvas of Penang Graffiti Park. Penang Graffiti Park isn’t your typical park. It’s a vibrant outdoor gallery where art explodes onto the walls. Unveiled in 2012 by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, Penang Graffiti Park was born from a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Tanjung Bungah and the Penang Island Municipal Council. This dynamic space was created to provide a dedicated area for graffiti art, encouraging artistic expression. Penang Graffiti Park invites artists of all levels, from students to professionals, to transform the walls into their personal canvases. The council manages a structured application process. Selected artwork graces the walls for at least a month before making way for new creations. This ensures a constant evolution of artistic expression, transforming the park into a living testament to Penang’s creative spirit. The park’s walls showcase a diverse range of styles. Perhaps the most recognizable piece is the stunning 3D Waterfall, a masterpiece by the Wall Art Team of Ibox Glass. This mesmerizing work uses perspective and color to create the illusion of cascading water, transforming a flat wall into a dynamic, flowing scene. In April 2013, the park vibrated with diverse artworks. Pieces by artists like Ezul, Junshan Anson, and Mohd Izzul stood alongside contributions from students of the Equator Academy of Art and the Centre of Design Excellence (CODE) at KDU. Penang Graffiti Park pulsates with the energy of creativity. It’s a place where art isn’t confined to gallery walls but spills out into the open air, inviting everyone to participate in the artistic process. As you wander through Penang Graffiti Park, keep in mind that the art you see today might be gone tomorrow. The ever-changing nature of this unique space adds to its charm. Each visit unveils new artistic treasures, making it a constant source of inspiration and delight. Located near the Children’s Playpool and the Archery Field within Penang Municipal Park, Penang Graffiti Park adds a vibrant splash of color to this green oasis.
