Founded in 1994 Peirce Secondary School initially shared space with Bishan Park Secondary School. Imagine 356 Secondary 1 students starting their journey within those walls. Peirce Secondary School is a government-aided school in Bishan Singapore. It quickly earned a reputation for its strong Uniformed Group Co-Curricular Activities.
Mr Chia Choon Kiat led the school as its first principal. The school’s early years were spent in a shared space. This wasn’t ideal but it laid the foundation for the school’s future success. On February 17 1995 a significant milestone occurred. Peirce Secondary School moved to its current location at 10 Sin Ming Walk.
The school’s growth continued. Between 2007 and 2008 Peirce underwent a major upgrade. This included building a new indoor sports hall. The school temporarily relocated during the construction. Students and staff returned to a modernized campus in December 2008. The upgraded Peirce Secondary School was a testament to its commitment to providing a top-notch learning environment.
In 2014 Peirce celebrated its 20th anniversary. The celebration included a themed assembly and a student-produced musical. Students parents and teachers contributed over 1400 photos to the school’s Instagram using dedicated hashtags. The photos were printed to form a heart-shaped logo in the school. This visual representation symbolized the school’s strong sense of community.
A significant change occurred in 2018. Peirce Secondary School merged with Bishan Park Secondary School. This merger expanded Peirce’s student population and its academic offerings. The merged school retained the Peirce Secondary School name and location. The merger brought two distinctive programs: Developing Community Leaders and Broadcast Journalism. These programs reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals. Today Peirce Secondary School continues to thrive. It provides a comprehensive education and a diverse range of extracurricular activities. The school proudly stands as a pillar of the Bishan community a testament to its enduring legacy.
