PAX-liget is a group of pine trees. These trees spell out P-A-X. In Latin, “pax” means peace. This verdant symbol is visible from the M7 motorway. Thousands of motorists see it daily. They are driving towards Budapest.
The “letters” of PAX-liget are huge. They stand approximately 120 meters tall. The trees were planted during a greening program. This program took place in the 1960s. Young members of KISZ planted the trees. KISZ was a communist youth organization.
The idea for PAX-liget came from a forestry engineer. His name was Mészöly Győző. He envisioned this living symbol of peace.
