Perhaps you’re wondering what makes this place so special. I’m referring to the Parroquia Espíritu Santo. It also serves as the Obispado de San Isidro. Let’s uncover its story.

The Diocese of San Isidro was established on February 11, 1957. Pope Pius XII signed the decree. It was called “Quandoquidem adoranda”. The land came from the Archdiocese of La Plata. It also included land from the Diocese of San Nicolás de los Arroyos.

San Isidro Labrador is the main patron saint. Pope John XXIII declared this in 1959.

The Diocese of San Isidro covers a large area. It spans 1,379 square kilometers. This includes San Fernando, San Isidro. It also covers Tigre, and Vicente López.

The main church is the Catedral de San Isidro Labrador. It’s located in San Isidro. In 2020, there were 67 parishes in the diocese.

Over time, the diocese has changed. In 1961, part of its land was used to create the Diocese of San Martín. Pope John XXIII made this change. He issued the decree “Hispanae linguae”. Later, in 1976, more land was given. This helped form the Diocese of Zarate-Campana. Pope Paul VI approved this with the decree “Qui divino Concilio”.

The Diocese of San Isidro has had several bishops. Antonio María Aguirre was the first. He served from 1957 to 1985. Jorge Casaretto followed. He led from 1985 to 2011. Oscar Vicente Ojea has been the bishop since 2011.

Many priests from this diocese have become bishops. Carlos María Franzini became Bishop of Rafaela in 2000. Miguel Ángel D’Annibale became Auxiliary Bishop of Río Gallegos in 2011. Jorge Eduardo Scheinig became Auxiliary Bishop of Mercedes-Luján in 2017. Marcelo Fabián Mazzitelli also became Auxiliary Bishop of Mendoza in 2017. Jorge Ignacio García Cuerva became Auxiliary Bishop of Lomas de Zamora in 2017 as well.

The Parroquia Espíritu Santo stands as part of a living, breathing faith. It contributes to a rich history. The church actively engages with its community. It offers sacraments like baptisms and confirmations. They also offer pre-marriage courses.

Charity is central. Cáritas and other groups provide aid. Youth groups offer activities like adoration. They organize pilgrimages to Luján. Adult groups have theater and liturgical activities. The Parroquia Espíritu Santo also runs services like job boards. They support Nazareth ministers. They provide pastoral health care.

The Parroquia Espíritu Santo is more than a building. It is a hub of faith. It is a place of service. It binds the community together. It is a place of constant activity and devotion. The Parroquia Espíritu Santo embodies the spirit of San Isidro. It shows compassion. It demonstrates a commitment to helping others. It acts as a true beacon of hope.
