The devotion to the Miraculous Medal was strong in Buenos Aires, sparking the idea for a dedicated church. The Daughters of Mary and the Daughters of Charity championed fundraising efforts. A significant contribution came from Adelia Arilaos de Olmos, a generous patron. Her support proved crucial in bringing the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa to life. The church’s Neo-Romanesque design boasts over 150 stained-glass windows, crafted by the Catalan artist Antonio Estruch. Atop the dome, a statue of the Miraculous Virgin stands over 50 meters high, a beacon of blessing over Buenos Aires. The Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa is strategically located near a major highway, making it a familiar sight for many commuters. From its inception, the church has drawn pilgrims seeking blessings or offering thanks for favors received. While always a place of pilgrimage, it officially became a shrine in 1982. The Vincentian missionaries offer various ministries, including reconciliation, a source of comfort for many. The 27th of each month sees increased pilgrims, culminating in a massive gathering on November 27th, the feast day. A grand procession takes place in the park opposite the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa. Masses and confessions are held throughout the day. Countless testimonies of miracles related to family, health, and work resonate within the shrine’s walls. The Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa also serves as a parish, with missionary priests supporting various movements and institutions. They guide the liturgy, preach the Gospel, and care for the needy, upholding the Vincentian charism. Nearly one thousand students, from initial to secondary levels, attend the Miraculous Medal Institute, further enriching the community.
