In 1906 a pious family had a dream. They envisioned a church in the burgeoning Roma Norte neighborhood. This dream became the Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia. It stands proudly at 144 Calle de Puebla. This beautiful church is a Roma Norte landmark.

The Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia is more than just a pretty building. It’s a testament to faith and community. Don Pedro Lascurain and his family spearheaded the project. They secured land donations from Don Pedro Lascurain and Don Edward Orrin. The Jesuit priests became its custodians.

Construction began around 1910. The Mexican Revolution interrupted it from 1913 to 1917. The church finally opened on November 19 1925. The tower and its clock were blessed that day.

Architect Manuel Gorozpe designed the Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia. He blended neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic styles. The result is breathtaking. The façade features stunning arches and a beautiful rose window. Twenty-five magnificent stained-glass windows fill the interior with light. They depict scenes from the Bible and the mysteries of Christian faith. These were crafted in Mexico by the Italian company Talleri. The stunning murals inside are the work of Father Gonzalo Carrasco. He was a talented painter a graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes.

The Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia is deeply connected to the life of Father Miguel Agustin Pro. He spent his final years here. He was executed in 1927. The church now houses a museum dedicated to him. You can see his relics including the clothes he wore on the day he died.

The Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia is a place of worship. It is a center of community life. It’s a place where people celebrate their faith and remember important figures. It’s a vibrant heart of Roma Norte a true symbol of the neighborhood. Take a moment to appreciate its beauty. Let its story inspire you.
