The soaring spire of Paroki Kranji Santo Mikael pierces the Jakarta sky. Its presence is a beacon of faith a testament to a community’s unwavering devotion.

Paroki Kranji Santo Mikael isn’t just a church. It’s a living history a story etched in stone and whispered in prayers. Originally part of Gereja Santo Arnoldus Janssen in Bekasi its journey began in April 1981. That year plans for a new church and school took root.

A year later a plot of land in Kranji was purchased by the Keuskupan Agung Jakarta. The dream of a new parish began to solidify in 1989. Services commenced in December of that year. These were held in the courtyard of the Strada Bhakti Wiyata school. Imagine the humble beginnings the anticipation building within the small community.

The formation of the new parish council followed in early 1990. Then on May 19 1990 Paroki Kranji Santo Mikael was officially established. It became the 42nd parish within the Keuskupan Agung Jakarta. This was a significant milestone a moment of immense joy and hope.

The church’s construction faced its own challenges. It wasn’t until 2004 that the building permit was finally issued. This allowed for the construction of the church building and a polyclinic. Finally on November 16 2008 the church was inaugurated. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Mayor of Bekasi. It was also attended by the Director General of Catholic Religious Affairs. The church received a special blessing from the Archbishop of Jakarta Julius Cardinal Darmaatmadja SJ.

Today Paroki Kranji Santo Mikael stands as a symbol of resilience. It stands as a testament to faith. Its grandeur is visible. The building boasts a capacity of 500 people. It features a ground floor and a balcony. Inside the main hall are statues of Saint Arnoldus Janssen and Saint Joseph Freinademetz. These figures serve as silent guardians of the church. Outside there’s a rectory and a Grotto of Mary. Of course there is also a statue of Saint Michael the church’s patron saint.

The complex is more than just a place of worship. It houses the Grha Santo Mikael. It also features a Pastoral and Social Services Building and a clinic. The Strada school is also part of the complex. The church is a vibrant hub of activity a center of faith education and community support. Paroki Kranji Santo Mikael is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a vibrant community united by faith. It’s a place where history prayers and hope converge.
