Sixty-two thousand square feet of faith. That’s the footprint of Parkside Baptist Church in Mesquite Texas. It’s a sprawling campus a testament to decades of growth and devotion. But this wasn’t always the case.
Parkside Baptist Church didn’t begin as a grand edifice. It started as Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Church. Dr Martin May founded it on October 15 1980. A humble beginning for a church that would one day boast over fifty Sunday school classes.
Dr May’s tenure wasn’t endless. He retired in 1984 handing the reins to his son Dr Larry May. Under his leadership the church expanded relentlessly. Three moves later the church found its current location. It’s a remarkable location beside one of Mesquite’s most beautiful parks. A symbol of God’s blessing according to the church’s history.
The move in 2005 to this six-acre campus was a turning point. It was a miraculous event if you believe the stories. The church flourished. Its auditorium filled to capacity each Sunday. Dr Larry May served faithfully for over twenty-five years.
Then came another transition. Dr Mike Wells succeeded Dr May in 2009. Under Dr Wells’ leadership Parkside Baptist Church continued to thrive. It continues to be a place of spiritual growth and community.
Parkside Baptist Church isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a living entity. It’s a community. It’s a legacy built on faith perseverance and growth. It’s a place where stories are written and lives are changed. It’s a shining example of a church that cares.
