The church’s history stretches back centuries. While much of what you see now was restored in the 19th century, a place of worship has stood here far longer.

In August 2018, St James Church joined the Bexley Team Ministry. It partnered with other local churches such as St John’s Bexley and St Mary’s Bexley.
The Parish Church of St James, North Cray, faces some challenges. The spire and roof need significant repairs. These are essential to preserve this historic building for future generations.

North Cray was once a small village. As early as 1557, the parish was combined with St Botolph, Ruxley. The remains of that church lie south of the old Maidstone Road.
