Founded in 1910 Paradise Missionary Baptist Church stands as a testament to faith. Its history unfolds like a compelling narrative. It began humbly under a thatched roof. Bro John Cox led early services. This small chapel still stands on the hill.
The church faced challenges. A hurricane severely damaged the building in 1945. Bro Thomas Cox led the repair efforts. The congregation persevered. Their faith strengthened through trials.
Growth brought new needs. The church outgrew its original building. Years later a new sanctuary was built. This happened in 1983. It was a significant milestone. The congregation’s unwavering faith led to expansion. It showcased their dedication.
Later in 1993 Deaconess Sarah Rigby served as church leader. She guided the church until 1998. Then a resident pastor arrived. Before that the Turks and Caicos Islands Baptist Union supported the church. Local pastors provided guidance and support.
Through the years the church faced several challenges. It overcame difficulties. Rev Dr Samuel G Williams became pastor in 2001. He led during a trying period. God’s grace brought rejuvenation. The church family thrived. Numbers increased. The congregation flourished once more in Five Cays.
Another expansion followed. The church outgrew its sanctuary once again. Mr Mervin Cox and his family generously donated a new sanctuary. The dedication took place on July 29 2012. It stands as a symbol of God’s faithfulness. Paradise Missionary Baptist Church continues its mission. It serves the community. It spreads the Gospel.
