Founded in 1963 the Palelai Buddhist Temple stands before you. It’s a testament to faith and community. Originally a small structure at 9 Jalan Nipah the temple quickly outgrew its space. The growing number of devotees demanded more room. This humble beginning is a key part of the Palelai Buddhist Temple’s story.

Phrakru Prakassa Dhammakhun the founder had a vision. He wanted to efficiently spread the teachings of Buddha. His dedication led to the temple’s relocation to 49 Bedok Walk. A wealthy Singaporean Buddhist Wee Thiam Siew generously helped make this move possible. He sold the land at half price. This act of kindness was vital in the temple’s expansion. Funding came from Thai Malaysian and Singaporean Buddhists. It was a true collaborative effort.

Construction began in 1970. The Supreme Patriarch Punnasiri Mahathera laid the foundation stone. This act blessed the new temple. It was completed in phases and consecrated in May 1973. The new location allowed more devotees to participate in temple activities. It became a vibrant center for the Buddhist community in Singapore.
