Have you ever wondered what lies beneath the earth? The Oxenhøj might not be as impressive as some of the other mounds you have seen, but it is still a powerful testament to the past. This burial mound dates back to the Bronze Age. From the time of the Vikings until the 19th century, Oxenhøj became a popular place for people to harvest sand. The sand was mined and taken away. You can still see the damage done to the mound from this activity. But even though the mound is smaller than it was originally, it is still a powerful reminder of the history of Aarhus. The mound is one of the few remaining Bronze Age burial mounds in the Aarhus area. So, take a moment to reflect on the history of this place and stand in awe of the people who built these mounds so long ago.
