Seventy-five years. That’s how long Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Ballard stood before undergoing a major transformation. Our Redeemer’s isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to resilience. It’s a story of community facing challenges. It’s a story etched into its very walls.
Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church has been a cornerstone of the Ballard community for decades. It’s more than just a place of worship. It’s a hub of activity a place where lives are changed. The church saw its fair share of ups and downs. In 2001 declining attendance threatened its very existence.
The congregation faced a crossroads. They reflected on their past. They envisioned their future. Out of this introspection came a renewed vision. A new determination to thrive. They needed a leader someone bold and creative. They found Katherine Hawks their first female pastor.
Pastor Hawks brought energy and fresh ideas. Our Redeemer’s blossomed under her leadership. The church undertook renovations. The sanctuary prayer chapel and narthex were all updated. LZL Construction was the contractor chosen for this important project. The renovations were completed to reflect the church’s renewed vision.
Our Redeemer’s continues its work. It strives to be inclusive devoted caring and spiritual. The church serves the Ballard community. It extends its support to people around the world. They actively pursue social justice. They partner with local organizations. Their dedication extends far beyond their doors. They offer aid to those in need. They’ve established a Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. This fund helps with rent counseling and other necessities.
