Whispers of faith echo through the decades at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Here in Edina, Minnesota, this church has been more than just a building since 1946. It’s a testament to a community’s enduring spirit. Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church began with 165 families. Before the cornerstone was even laid, the faithful gathered in the old Edina Theater, their voices uniting in prayer. By 1949, a cornerstone was finally placed. The first Masses resonated within a humble basement church. This space now nurtures young talents in art and music. The church’s growth mirrors its community’s devotion. Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church now embraces over 3,300 families. In 1949, Our Lady of Grace Catholic School opened its doors. Eight rooms, guided by the Sisters of Mercy, welcomed 115 eager students. This was part of Father Louis Forrey’s vision. He envisioned a thriving Catholic community centered around a K-8 school. The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis provided a sprawling 22-acre campus for this dream to unfold. The school has blossomed alongside the church. It now boasts over 825 students, a testament to the vibrant community it serves. The church continues to evolve, undergoing a significant $16.8 million expansion and renovation project. This project added classrooms, meeting rooms, a preschool, and a new Parish Activity Center complete with a full-size gym, a theater, and locker rooms. Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church thrives as a place of worship, education, and community. It stands as a beacon of faith, connecting generations through shared values and a commitment to spiritual growth.
