Did you know you are standing before a piece of Marseille history, a hidden gem called Oũ Galerie Paradis? This isn’t just any art gallery. Oũ Galerie Paradis is located at 152 Rue Paradis. It was a former maid’s room, transformed in November 2014 into a unique art space by the association Oũ. Imagine, a 5.5 square meter room perched high above the city, in Marseille’s chic district, offering an incredible view. This intimate space, once a humble servant’s quarters, now showcases contemporary art. Oũ Galerie Paradis isn’t about grand displays. It’s about optimizing a small, personal space and showcasing art in its purest form. The gallery is run in a unique way. An artist, usually a curator, is given the space for two years. They rename the gallery and curate their own exhibitions. This means each visit to Oũ Galerie Paradis can be a completely different experience. Maybe you’ll encounter a solo show like the one by Frédéric Clavére, which ran from December 2016 to April 2017. The best part? Oũ Galerie Paradis is open every day. You can visit anytime between 10 am and 10 pm. Just ring the bell for Association Oũ on the first floor, or call ahead for an appointment. Oũ Galerie Paradis is more than just a gallery. It’s a testament to creativity, resourcefulness, and the vibrant art scene of Marseille.
