Operation Kindness

Did the name “Operation Kindness” ever make you wonder about its origins? Right here in Carrollton, Texas, stands a testament to compassion. Operation Kindness isn’t just a name; it’s a promise whispered to every stray, abandoned, and neglected animal that walks through its doors. Operation Kindness began in 1976, not in a grand building, but in the homes of volunteers in Garland, Texas. Imagine these dedicated individuals opening their hearts and homes, providing temporary shelter and care for animals in need. Their simple acts of kindness laid the foundation for what Operation Kindness is today. Operation Kindness moved to a veterinary clinic on North Garland Avenue in Garland that summer. This marked a significant step. They then moved to a storefront on Trend in Carrollton in 1988. Their current location at 3201 Earhart Drive in Carrollton opened in 1999. Operation Kindness continued to grow. They renovated and expanded their adoption center and animal hospital in 2018. The Rees-Jones Foundation Medical Wing opened in March 2020. The entire facility was completed in July 2021. Operation Kindness has been committed to its no-kill philosophy since its inception. It provides a safe haven for cats and dogs. They offer medical care, food, and a chance to find loving forever homes. In 2021, Operation Kindness saw a huge increase in animals brought to the shelter. Adoptions also increased significantly. They sheltered animals displaced by Hurricane Ida and added new rescue partners. Operation Kindness hosted its 25th annual Canines, Cats & Cabernet event in November 2017.
