In 1962, a Bible study was held in a private home. It was the beginning of a journey, a journey to establish a church devoted to the teachings of the Bible. It wasn’t easy. For six months, they met in houses, seeking a haven for their faith. Finally, in November, the doors to a storeroom on the corner of Fifth and Locusts Streets opened, welcoming the new congregation. This marked the birth of the Open Door Baptist Church in Dallas, a beacon of faith in the heart of Texas. After a year, they moved to a larger space on Fourth Street, a testament to their growing community. But the Open Door Baptist Church wasn’t just a place of worship, it was a place of learning and service. In 1978, they took a crucial step towards educating the next generation, establishing a Christian school named Lebanon Christian Academy. They moved into a stone mansion on East Walnut Street, a symbol of their dedication to their mission. In 1980, they found their permanent home at 875 Academy Drive, their new facility a testament to their unwavering faith. The Open Door Baptist Church continues to be a cornerstone in Dallas, a testament to their commitment to teaching, sharing, and serving the community.
