Dreaming of saying “I do”? Old Marylebone Town Hall might just be the perfect place. This isn’t just another building. It’s a landmark steeped in history and romance. The Old Marylebone Town Hall stands as a testament to Edwardian Graeco-Roman classicism.

Sir Edwin Cooper designed it after winning a competition in 1911. Construction took place from 1914 to 1920. The building’s facade is made of Portland stone. It boasts a tower reminiscent of Christopher Wren’s style. Fluted columns add to its grandeur. HRH Prince Albert, later King George VI, formally opened it on March 27, 1920.

The Old Marylebone Town Hall is more than just beautiful architecture. It is a Grade II listed building. It has hosted some very famous weddings. Sir Paul McCartney married both his late wife Linda and Nancy Shevell here. Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach also exchanged vows here. Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit celebrated their nuptials at this location. Even Hollywood stars Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith chose this spot.

Between 1920 and its refurbishment in 2013, 120000 marriages took place here. Since reopening in January 2018, over 1000 couples have already booked their weddings. The Old Marylebone Town Hall offers seven ceremony rooms. Each room is named after a different part of the borough. These are Westminster, Knightsbridge, Paddington, Marylebone, Soho, Pimlico, and Mayfair. The Westminster room is the most popular. The Soho Room follows closely behind.

The Old Marylebone Town Hall also offers some unique options. You don’t have to exchange rings. You can exchange other symbols of commitment. Within reason, of course. Even your dog can be a ring bearer. Look closely at the ceilings. Some ceremony rooms have hidden figures. The Paddington Room displays sentimental photographs. These are weddings of registrars’ parents.

Today, the Old Marylebone Town Hall is an integral part of the London Business School campus. It forms a triangle of educational facilities with Sussex Place and the Taunton Centre. Whether you’re drawn to its architectural beauty, its rich history, or its romantic ambiance, the Old Marylebone Town Hall continues to be a cherished landmark in London. It is a place where memories are made and love stories begin.
