Can you imagine building a synagogue for people who don’t even know they want one? That was the challenge Rabbi Aryeh Rodin and his wife, Rebbetzin Henny, took on when they arrived in North Dallas in the 1980s. They saw a need for a synagogue in the area, but there was no community to speak of. They started small, gathering in their own home, and with the help of a few dedicated individuals like Ted Fishman. They knew it would take more than just a building, it would take siyata d’shmaya, divine intervention.
Ohev Shalom, the name of the synagogue, translates to “loving peace.” It’s a name that reflects the community’s commitment to peace and understanding. The synagogue has grown from a small group of people to a thriving community of several hundred families.
Ohev Shalom is unique from any other synagogue in Dallas because it is the fastest-growing congregation. The synagogue offers an array of services and programs, from daily services to adult education classes.
Ohev Shalom is a testament to the power of community and the importance of faith. It is a place where people can come together to learn, grow, and celebrate their Jewish heritage.

Is it possible for a place to hold so much history in just one acre? You might not think so,
