During a heavy snowfall in Istanbul Vali Davut Gül visited Odayeri. He inspected the Odayeri Maintenance and Operation Center. This is part of the Kuzey Marmara Highway.

Odayeri is a village in Eyupsultan. It’s located 45 km from Istanbul and 28 km from Eyupsultan. It’s a small community. It’s governed by a muhtar and an ihtiyar heyeti. That’s a village head and council of elders.

The 2014 census showed Odayeri had 227 residents. This number has fluctuated over the years. Records show populations ranging from a low of 101 in 1975 to a high of 394 in 2000.

Vali Gül’s visit wasn’t just about routine inspections. That snowy day highlighted Odayeri’s importance. The village sits along a crucial highway. Keeping it clear during the storm ensured the smooth flow of traffic and essential services. Odayeri’s location played a vital role in Istanbul’s overall snow-clearing operations.

Imagine the village covered in snow. The quiet roads contrast sharply with the bustling highway. The snow muffles the usual sounds. It brings a stillness. Yet the essential work continues. The trucks rumble along. The snow plows clear the way. The villagers watch from their homes. Their village plays a crucial part in keeping Istanbul moving.

Odayeri might seem small and remote. Yet it plays a vital role in Istanbul’s infrastructure. This isn’t just about numbers and statistics. It’s about the people. It’s about the village’s connection to a larger city. Its resilience during a storm is a testament to its essential place in the heart of Istanbul.
