Whispers of history linger around Oakbrooke Lodge. This unassuming building on Goldhawk Road holds secrets. It’s more than just apartments. Oakbrooke Lodge whispers tales of Ravenscourt Park. The park’s history stretches back to medieval times. A moat once surrounded Paddenswick Manor. The lake in Ravenscourt Park was part of that moat. Imagine Alice Perrers King Edward III’s mistress living there. She resided in the manor during the 14th century. The manor house was rebuilt in 1650. In 1747 Thomas Corbett bought it. He renamed it Ravenscourt. This was likely a pun on his name. Corbeau is French for raven. George Scott a builder and philanthropist bought the estate in 1812. He was the last private owner. Scott hired Humphry Repton a renowned landscaper. Repton designed the estate gardens. By 1845 over 330 houses stood within the park. Oakbrooke Lodge stands as a silent witness to these changes. It’s a reminder of a time when Ravenscourt Park was vastly different. Today Oakbrooke Lodge stands as a quiet residential building. It still reflects the rich history of the area. It’s a testament to London’s ever-evolving landscape. Yet the echoes of the past remain within its walls. The spirit of Ravenscourt Park lives on in Oakbrooke Lodge. Step inside. Feel the weight of history. Let the stories of Oakbrooke Lodge captivate you.
