In August 1996, a dream took root. Nueva Vida New Life Assembly was born. It began with Pastor Vicente Delgado’s vision. He saw a newly built church, smelling of fresh paint. Then another, also brand new. Lights glimmered around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The vision was abstract at first. Then it started to materialize. Nueva Vida New Life Assembly’s first gathering was in a rented YWCA room in Oak Cliff. A month later, they moved to a rented Lutheran church. A few months after that, they bought their first “temple”. It was a three-bedroom house, remodeled for their small congregation. This house, their first temple, still stands on the corner of Chalmers and Illinois. The congregation was small, but their faith was immense. Pastor Delgado dreamt of serving the Lord. He felt a burning desire to fulfill the Great Commission. His wife, Pastor Esther Delgado, shared his dream. Together, they have founded several churches in the metroplex. Nueva Vida New Life Assembly is the mother church. They also oversee churches in Dallas, Grand Prairie, and DeSoto, with plans for more. They have established and helped to open several childcare centers within their churches and across Texas. In 2001, the Texas State Board of Education granted them a license to operate charter schools. Golden Rule Schools Inc. was born. Now, Nueva Vida New Life Assembly has its own school district, with schools in Cockrell Hill, DeSoto, Grand Prairie, and Dallas. The lights Pastor Delgado saw in his vision now make sense. They represent the schools. They represent the growth of Nueva Vida New Life Assembly. The dream has become reality. The future looks bright for Nueva Vida New Life Assembly.
