Today we stand before the NAB UFF a testament to innovation. It wasn’t built overnight. Its construction stemmed from a Petrobas-funded project. A project focused on chemical incrustation processes. This collaboration made the UFF unique. The only university to receive such an infrastructure project.
The NAB UFF’s design isn’t an accident. It harmonizes with its stunning surroundings. The Guanabara Bay the Sugarloaf Mountain the Corcovado. It respects historical landmarks. The Niemeyer Walkway Santa Cruz Fortress and the UFF’s established architectural style are all considered. The building embodies modern Brazilian architecture. Inspired by Le Corbusier it features brises rounded columns pilotis and walls set back from the structure.
Its 3412 square meters house much more than just research. The basement contains the analysis center and laboratories. A technical corridor surrounds these labs ensuring a healthy work environment. The ground floor is bustling with activity. Reception a secretariat the logical and sound network room an auditorium and support facilities. The mezzanine houses the ventilation and refrigeration systems. It also includes service storerooms and a staff cafeteria. This floor offers breathtaking panoramic views. Views of Guanabara Bay and the surrounding natural and man-made monuments.
The upper floors dedicate themselves to research. Laboratories for both living organisms and instrumental studies. Administrative and academic spaces occupy the top floor. Multipurpose rooms host courses training and workshops. A digital library a professors’ room a computer room and even a themed museum cater to the needs of researchers and students.
The NAB UFF doesn’t just exist. It thrives. It’s involved in significant research projects. Projects focused on oil production geophysics geochemistry climate change solar energy and water management. These projects attract funding from various sources. Petrobas Petrogol/Galp Shell FAPERJ CNPq and other agencies and companies. The NAB UFF is more than a building.
