Three parents, driven by a vision. That’s how the story of Nova Classical Academy begins. Right here in St. Paul, Elisa Knudson, Simon Fung, and Teresa Schulte saw a need for a different kind of public school. They envisioned a place where classical education, usually found only in private schools, was accessible to all. Nova Classical Academy opened its doors in 2003, welcoming around 165 students in grades K-6. It was a dream taking flight. Year after year, more grades were added, culminating in a full K-12 program by 2012. Nova Classical Academy is not just a school; it’s a community. It’s a place where parents are recognized as the primary educators of their children. The school partners with them, offering a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes not just academics but also character development. Students at Nova Classical Academy don’t just learn facts; they learn how to think critically, communicate effectively, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them. They embrace the virtues of justice, temperance, prudence, and fortitude. This unique approach has earned Nova Classical Academy accolades, including ranking as the #1 High School in Minnesota by SchoolDigger in 2021. So, as you stand before these halls, remember the vision of those three parents and the thriving community they helped create. Nova Classical Academy stands as a testament to their belief in the power of classical education to shape young minds and prepare them for a future full of possibilities.
