The North Side School Plaque, a simple, but meaningful marker, stands silently near the old playground. It tells a story about the past, a time when the land was a part of the Marine community that would develop into North Fort Worth. The North Side School Plaque commemorates the history of the school buildings that stood before the current one. The plaque tells us that the first North Side High School was erected in 1914. It was the third building to serve as a school for the town of Marine. The school, which was located on 21st Street, eventually gave way to the building that houses Manuel Jara Elementary School. The plaque celebrates the legacy of the first North Side School, a symbol of a long and successful educational history in Fort Worth.
