A dual-purpose room was the first building. It served as both a gymnasium and a sanctuary. The room was completed and dedicated in June 1959. This shows the church’s early commitment to community.

A major building project followed in 1970-71. This added the existing sanctuary. An education wing was also added. These additions expanded the church’s capacity.

North Seattle Alliance Church has always focused on relationships. It sought to connect with neighbors around Haller Lake. Building a gym and sanctuary first highlighted this desire. Today that same heart guides them. The church engages locally and globally.

North Seattle Alliance Church is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. A. B. Simpson founded the C&MA in 1887. He left a successful pastoral position in New York City. This alliance grew. It formed around a basic statement of faith. Churches partnered to maximize their impact overseas. The C&MA officially became a denomination in 1974. A.W. Tozer and Dr. Louis L. King greatly influenced the Alliance. The organization overhauled its missionary efforts. They aimed to raise up indigenous church leaders. These leaders would be self-supporting. They would also be self-propagating and self-governing.

The Alliance’s work focuses on unreached people groups. This emphasis spans both local and global contexts. They work in over 81 countries and territories. More than 700 US workers are involved. They care for the sick and befriend the lonely. They introduce people to Jesus.

Consider the church’s ongoing commitment. It connects with the neighborhood and the world. North Seattle Alliance Church continues to build on its rich history. The church addresses racism. It also promotes inclusivity. North Seattle Friends Church welcomes diverse backgrounds. It encourages people to love God. It encourages people to love others. It encourages people to love themselves. The church fosters a safe space. All gather to worship and minister together. This happens in unity. It follows the Quaker tradition.

The church seeks to liberate ministries as they arise. Many ministries are dispersed. They are throughout the wider community. Members accompany each other in these ministries. This accompaniment provides support. It recognizes the Spirit’s presence.
