“North” – that’s what Pantonio titled his masterpiece, a swirling, vibrant mural that winds its way up the side of a towering building in the 13th Arrondissement of Paris. The mural depicts a school of fish, their shimmering scales mimicking the hues of the Parisian sky. It’s a dazzling piece, evoking the movement of the water and the hustle and bustle of the city. Pantonio, a Portuguese artist, used the fish as a symbol of the neighborhood’s population density, but also as a subtle nod to the diverse cultural melting pot of the area, including the prominent Asian community. This colossal work of art is a captivating expression of the city’s energy and its connection to the natural world – a reminder that even in a bustling urban environment, beauty and nature can thrive. It reminds us that art is not just about aesthetics but about stories, symbols, and the human experience.
