Picture a Thanksgiving gathering in 1991. Not just any gathering but one that unexpectedly birthed North Hills Community Church. It began in a home with a small group desiring fellowship. They yearned to grow in God’s Word and serve their community. This informal group called themselves “The Bible Church”.
Soon after the Lord guided them to a repurposed foot doctor’s office on East North Street. For months various teachers led services. Attendees brought their own chairs lawn chairs and folding chairs.
By January 1992 North Hills Community Church received its first chairs a choir and outreach opportunities. A teaching pastor joined them. Their teachings began with the book of Ephesians. They aimed to create a church reflecting the model found in that letter.
November 1992 marked a milestone. North Hills Community Church officially formed. Forty-seven people shared their salvation stories becoming charter members. A strong desire fueled them. They wanted to learn God’s Word love each other and serve the vulnerable.
Their old foot doctor’s office proved inadequate. North Hills Community Church relocated. Their new space was a former Winn Dixie grocery store. Buckets scattered throughout the auditorium collected rainwater on rainy days.
God miraculously provided their current location on Edwards Road in Taylors South Carolina. North Hills Community Church purchased land and built an auditorium. This auditorium could accommodate their growing congregation.
North Hills Community Church continues its ministry. It serves the local community and reaches out globally. They believe in God’s word connecting with His family and sharing His story.
