The Catholic presence in Cu1ee7 Chi dates back a long time. It began in u1ea4p Bu00e0u Tre. Around 1930, the first church was built.

By 1942, the church had deteriorated. Father Su00e9batiano Hu1ed3 u0110oan Chu00e1nh took charge. He rallied the parishioners to buy land along the main road. They built a new church with the help of rubber plantation owners. Sadly, this church later burned down.

The situation worsened in 1945. Many Catholics from Bu00e0u Tre fled to Tu00e2n An Hu1ed9i. This is now Cu1ee7 Chi town. Catholics from other villages also joined them. They united to keep their faith alive. They faced immense challenges. Yet, they were determined to find a place to worship.

They borrowed space to celebrate their faith. Sometimes it was a market. Other times, it was a villager’s home or even a military camp. In 1947, Father Tuyen ministered to them in a borrowed market space. By 1949, they used a villager’s house as a temporary church with Father Phaolu00f4 Phan Tu00f9ng Lu1ed9c.

In 1955, they borrowed a military camp. Father Luca Bu1ea3ng celebrated Mass there weekly. Father Phaolu00f4 Xuu00e2n from Hu00f3c Mu00f4n began to visit weekly in 1957. Seeing their plight, he encouraged them to raise funds. They sought to buy land and build a proper church.

Finally, in 1960, their dream came true. A new church was completed. The parishioners were overjoyed. Father Martinu00f4 Khu00e1nh arrived. He built classrooms for religious education. He also built a house for the nuns.

In 1968, Father Antu00f4n Tru1ea7n Vu0103n Phu00e1n expanded the church. He also built a bell tower in 1969. Father Tu00f4ma Nguyu1ec5n Tou00e0n Quyu1ec1n assisted him.

Fathers Phaolu00f4 Nguyu1ec5n Vu0103n Khi, Tu00f4ma Nguyu1ec5n Vu0103n u0110iu1ec3u, and Giuse Nguyu1ec5n u0110u00ecnh Hu00f2e led the parish in later years.

In 1997, Father Giuse Phu1ea1m Vu0103n Hu00f2a initiated the rebuilding of the church. The first stone was laid on March 20, 1999. The new church was consecrated on May 1, 2003. Bishop Phu00earu00f4 Tru1ea7n u0110u00ecnh Tu1ee9 presided over the ceremony.
