New Zealand School Jakarta, or NZSJ, stands as a beacon of international education in Kemang, South Jakarta. Established in 2002, the school has a proud history of serving the Jakarta community. It delivers excellent results for all its students.
The New Zealand School Jakarta was formerly known as the New Zealand Independent School or NZIS. The name changed following Indonesian government regulations in 2014. The regulations required schools to remove the word “international” from their names.
NZSJ aims to bring the well-rounded New Zealand Curriculum to Jakarta. Students of all nationalities benefit from this progressive approach. In 2019, the school completed an accreditation program. The Government of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education conducted it. The Primary School scored 93%. The Secondary School achieved 91%.
While NZSJ applies the New Zealand Curriculum’s pedagogy, it is an international school at heart. The community represents 20 nationalities. The school welcomes Indonesian students. They currently make up one-third of the student base. The school encourages a love for Indonesia throughout the community. It integrates Indonesian learning inside and outside the classroom.
October 2018 marked a new chapter for the New Zealand School Jakarta. New management took over, bringing a new Board of Governors. Several new developments were rolled out in 2019. The academic year aligned to the July-June cycle. This supports both international and Indonesian students. Additional classroom and specialist teachers joined the faculty. These teachers are both expatriate and Indonesian. Improvements enhanced the warm campus in Kemang, South Jakarta.
